Your Portrait Session

What is your photographic approach?

Together, we'll collaborate to create a set of portraits you'll cherish and be proud to display. We'll start with a pre-session consultation by phone so I can get to know you and we can discuss your portrait session.

At the session, I will photograph unscripted, "slice of life" moments in your child and family's life. I may photograph a few casual poses, but mostly will spend time capturing the spirit of your child: giggling, dancing, running, jumping, painting, building, or settling down with a favorite book. With older children and teens, we can incorporate their interests or favorite places into their portraits.

With families, I'll photograph a variety of images - the whole family together, siblings and each child individually. Finally, I'll include some fun details - a favorite toy, book, swing, ruffle of a dress, dimpled fingers or little toes.

Where do the sessions take place?

I come to you! I work on location at your home or at a favorite garden or park. Children feel comfortable in their own spaces and I can incorporate their world into your portraits for a custom experience. I am based in Upstate South Carolina, at Lake Keowee and serve the surrounding areas. I also travel to Charlotte and Washingon DC several times a year to work with clients. Please sign up for my monthly newsletter to hear about upcoming Signature Portrait Sessions, Destination Sessions, new portrait display products and photo workshop announcements.

How long are the sessions?

Your Signature Portrait Session will last about one hour, or until we feel we have a great set of portraits. Newborn Milestone Portrait Sessions may take longer to allow time for feeding, changing, napping and playing!

Do you offer mini-sessions?

I do! I offer my Simplicity Portrait Sessions twice a year in the spring and fall in a park, historic home or botanical garden. Simplicity Portrait sessions offer a shorter session (20 minutes) in unique places on specific days. Please sign up for my monthly newsletter to be the first to hear about these special session dates in advance. You may also follow me on Facebook and Instagram to keep in touch!

Can we purchase digital images?

Yes you can! While I love to create beautiful fine art albums, image boxes and wall art for you to display and enjoy, I understand that having access to your digital files is important to share online with friends and family, on social media and to print your own unlimited smaller prints. So with that in mind, I have several digital collections available for purchase following your portrait session.

When can we see our portraits?

After your session we'll make an appointment to view your proofs and place your order. Once placed, your order will be delivered in two to three weeks. Custom albums, image boxes and framed prints may take more time.

So I'm interested in booking you. What's next?

Please give me a call and let's chat about your portraits. I'll work with you to customize a portrait session that is unique to your family. Think about how you'd like your portraits to be displayed - One large portrait or a wall grouping? An album or an image box? Will you need announcements or holiday cards? How about gifts for your friends and relatives?

Next, we'll book a session time that works for you. Creative session fees are due at time of booking and secure your appointment time with me. I'll send you information on our portrait collections, tips on what to wear, and be available for any other questions that may come up before your session.

At your session, I'll make the most of the time we have together to bring out the best in your family. We will spend the time we need to create lasting, keepsake images.

After your portrait session, we will schedule a time to review your proofs and make selections. I'll be with you every step of the way from initial phone call to delivery of your portraits. I look forward to working with you and your family!
