I recently met a remarkable woman ~ Paula Takacs. Paula is fighting a battle against a rare form of cancer, liposarcoma. Paula was diagnosed in November, 2004 shortly after the birth of her son, Graham, She and her husband Geof formed The Paula Takacs Foundation for Sarcoma Research to raise awareness and funding for Sarcoma research. Paula is an inspiration – through her numerous surgeries, chemotherapies, & radiation treatments she has managed to focus her energy on building her foundation and strives for a sense of normalcy for her family.
On Saturday, April 2, you will find me with my camera at the start/finish line of the Sarcoma Stomp at the McAlpine Creek Greenway in Charlotte. I am honored to donate my photographic services to document the 5K Run/3K Fun Walk. What a better way to spend a Saturday morning in April with your family – running or walking and raising money to fight this rare form of cancer. Proceeds of this fundraiser will benefit Kristen Ann Carr Sarcoma Laboratory at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Your support will help fund modern research, clinical trials and give hope to this disease’s victims. Please consider participating in this worthy cause, as the actions of each person can make a difference.
